10/09/2024

This week the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in partnership with the EU Global Facility on AML/CFT, convened a key meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland, to finalize the work on the International Competitive Training Event on Anti-Money Laundering, known as “The Siracusa Challenge”.

A group of 12 experts from France, Iceland, Italy, Georgia, Romania, Republic of Moldova and United States convened to develop a competitive training event designed to strenghten the knowledge and practical skills of professionals in penal chain institutions, particularly in the handling of complex money laundering cases. At this final meeting the high-level working group presented strategic proposals for future initiatives and also finalised the concept paper for the training event.

Looking ahead, an introductory session will be organised for representatives from selected European countries to participate in this inaugural regional event, set to take place in 2025. A heartfelt thank you to the Reykjavik University for their warm hospitality and support in hosting the event.
