Capacity Strengthening Program for Qatari Judges on “Tackling Cybercrime: Civil Nature of Losses, Frauds, Forgeries from a Commercial Perspective”

From September 10 to 12, 2024, the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in collaboration with the Supreme Judiciary Council of Qatar, is conducting a capacity strengthening program for Qatari judges on “Tackling Cybercrime: Civil Nature of Losses, Frauds, Forgeries from a Commercial Perspective” in Siracusa, Italy.

The program brought together Qatari judges, legal professionals, and international experts in the field. Through the interactive and practice-oriented sessions, participants delved into the complexities of cybercrime, exploring its various forms with a particular emphasis on child sexual abuse material, digital fraud, forgery and the different impacts of cybercrime.

Key aspects included the civil consequences of cybercrime losses, the commercial implications, and legal strategies to safeguard businesses from cyber threats. The event also served as a platform to promote international collaboration and exchange of best practices to effectively tackle both the criminal and civil dimensions of cybercrime.
