Specialization Course for Prosecutors (SCP)

The Specialization Course for Prosecutors on International Criminal Justice is a specialized training program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of prosecutors who work in the field of international criminal law.

This course is targeted at prosecutors involved in prosecuting serious international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. It prepares domestic prosecutors to work on cases involving core international and transnational crimes, and also offers specialised training in international legal cooperation.

The course places a strong focus on practicality through sessions and exercises led by a world-class faculty of international practitioners from around the world. In its past four editions, the course was attended by 179 prosecutors from more than fifty countries.

Fifth Specialization Course for Prosecutors (SCP) on International Criminal Justice, Transnational Crime and International Cooperation in Criminal Matters

The fifth Specialization Course for Prosecutors on International Criminal Justice, Transnational Crime and International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (SCP 2023) will be conducted in Siracusa, Italy, from 4 to 13 July 2023.

SCP 2023 is co-organized by the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights (Siracusa Institute) and the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

Non-IAP members € 1.050 (including an additional sum for IAP membership)

The registration for the course is open to all interested applicants that fit the eligibility criteria.

Interested applicants should apply as soon as possible filling out the Application Form.

The deadline for registration is June 10, 2023. Scholarships are extremely limited and so applicants should consider applying as full-fee paying participants to assist in securing their place. All registered participants will receive an acceptance letter in due course, with further information on methods of payment and relevant deadlines.

Eligibility & Cancellation Policy

Eligibility

The course targets mainly prosecutors or professionals with an equivalent function. A limited number of auditors, who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria, might be accepted into the course and eligible to receive a certification of participation in this capacity. The working language will be English, therefore proficiency in English is required for both regular participants and auditors.

Cancellation Policy

If a registered participant cancels his/her participation, the registration cost cannot be refunded. However, given the current exceptional circumstances, if a registered participant cannot attend the course due to contracting Covid-19, the Institute will consider a full refund on presentation of a certified medical certificate. The Institute will also consider a full refund in other cases of force majeure (e.g., unforeseeable change in travel restrictions rules).
