The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights mourns the loss of Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General (1997-2006). Due to his endeavours to promote a “better organized and more peaceful world”, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001. Kofi Annan was a tireless peace negotiator who dedicated his life to the maintenance of peace and international security. He will be always a great source of inspiration for those engaged in the establishment of peace and in the protection of human rights.
